MacroLedgr Privacy Policy

Effective 29 September 2026

MacroLedgr is a nutrition and macro tracking app for people in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore, made by PureSlate Pty Ltd (ABN 51 678 628 638) ("we", "us"). This policy explains what personal information the app collects, how we use it, who we share it with, where it is stored, and the choices and rights you have.

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). If you are in New Zealand, we also follow the Privacy Act 2020 (NZ). If you are in Singapore, we also follow the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA).

Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and a password, which we store only in a securely hashed form. We never store your password in plain text.

Profile and goals. To calculate your targets we collect the profile details you provide: sex, date of birth, height, weight, activity level, goal type, target weight, your country (Australia, New Zealand or Singapore), and your calorie and macronutrient targets and settings (for example your chosen deficit and exercise eat-back).

Food, weight and activity logs. We store the entries you create: food diary entries, weight log entries, water intake, exercise you log, and any meal plans you generate.

Health and fitness data (Apple Health / Google Health Connect). If you grant permission, the app reads activity data from Apple Health (iOS) or Google Health Connect (Android) — steps, active and resting energy, workouts, distance, exercise minutes and, if you use a connected scale, body weight — to display your daily activity and optionally adjust your calorie budget. We may store a per-day snapshot of these figures so you can view past days. We use this health data only to provide features inside the app. We do not use it for advertising or marketing, and we do not share it with anyone for advertising or for any use unrelated to the app. You can revoke this access at any time in iOS Settings, Privacy & Security, Health, or in the Google Health Connect app on Android.

Food searches. We keep a record of the food searches you make in the app and the top results shown, linked to your account, so we can find and fix searches that return poor results.

Food photos (AI scan). When you use the AI photo scan, the photo you capture or select is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to identify the food and estimate its nutrition. The photo is processed for that purpose and is not stored on our servers. If you take a photo with the camera, the app can also save it to your phone's photo library; that copy stays on your phone.

Recipes you import. When you import a recipe (by sharing an Instagram post, pasting text or adding a screenshot), the recipe text or screenshot is sent to Anthropic to read the ingredients and method. The saved recipe — including its title, ingredients, method, a link to the original post, the creator's username and, for Instagram posts, a copy of the post's cover picture — is stored with your account. Imported recipes are private to you and are never shown to other users.

Barcodes and food lookups. When you scan a barcode or search for a food we look it up in our own food database and, if needed, in the public Open Food Facts database or the FatSecret food database to return nutrition information. Only the barcode or search words are sent to those services, not your account details.

Subscription information. Subscriptions are processed by Apple (App Store) on iOS or Google (Google Play) on Android, and managed through RevenueCat. We receive your subscription status (for example, whether you have an active subscription or trial). We do not receive or store your payment card details — those are handled by Apple or Google.

How we use your information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your health, nutrition or activity data to serve you advertising.

Who we share it with

We share information only with service providers that help us run the app, and only as needed:

We may also disclose information where required by law.

Where your information is stored

Your account data is stored on servers run by Render in [CHECK: Render region, e.g. "the United States (Oregon)" or "Singapore"]. Anthropic processes the data sent to it in the United States. This means your information is stored or processed outside Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. We take reasonable steps to make sure these providers protect your information to a standard comparable to the privacy laws of Australia, New Zealand and Singapore, including using encrypted connections and sending only the information each provider needs.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your personal information while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Settings, Delete Account) or at api.macroledgr.com.au/delete-account. Deleting your account permanently removes your account and associated personal data — including your diary, weight history, goals, imported recipes and saved data — from our database. Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription; manage that in your Apple ID subscription settings (iOS) or Google Play subscription settings (Android). Health data read from Apple Health or Google Health Connect remains in the platform's health store and is controlled by you.

Security

Information is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS), passwords are stored using one-way hashing, and access to our systems is restricted. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Children

MacroLedgr is not directed at children and is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

You can see and correct most of your information inside the app. You can also ask us, at the email address below, for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or make a privacy complaint. We will respond as soon as we reasonably can, and within 20 working days.

Australia. If you are not satisfied with our response to a complaint, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).

New Zealand. Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask to access and correct your personal information. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz).

Singapore. Under the PDPA you can ask to access or correct your personal data, and you can withdraw your consent to our collection, use or disclosure of your personal data (in which case we may no longer be able to provide some or all of the app to you). Contact our Data Protection Officer at the email address below.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and change the effective date above. Significant changes will be communicated within the app where appropriate.
